Lo spazio di un appartamento di circa 150mq che viene definito all’interno di una unità abitativa più estesa, collocata al piano attico di un palazzo residenziale degli anni ‘70 a Palermo. Il programma articola lo spazio di progetto della casa per una coppia con due figli. La committente, collezionista di opere d’arte, richiede una particolare attenzione nel progetto alla definizione di un piccolo spazio espositivo per una parte della collezione di opere d’arte contemporanea. Lo spazio della casa si sviluppa secondo un impianto planimetrico chiaro e definito. Un ingresso/galleria, un living centrale e una cucina di testa in continuazione dello spazio living e collegato al terrazzo. Un blocco che costituisce il filtro fra spazio notte e spazio giorno, si sviluppa per circa 8mt lungo l’asse longitudinale della pianta e si attesta come spazio di servizio e di passaggio tra i due spazi. Il camino, realizzato in cemento a faccia vista, si pone in posizione centrale rispetto al fronte sud del living, trovando il giusto peso simbolico e funzionale nello spazio della casa.

Le aree urbane sono solo il 3-4% della superficie totale del mondo, ma ne accolgono metà della popolazione. Venti megacittà con oltre dieci milioni di abitanti ognuna sono il risultato dell’impatto della crescita di popolazione che ha avuto il nostro pianeta. Le città non sono state pronte a ricevere questa crescita esponenziale di abitanti e non sono state in grado di sostenere le loro necessità e gli stili di vita delle persone. La conseguenza più critica è stata l’aumento di inquinamento urbano a causa traffico veicolare, riscaldamento domestico, industrie e attività artigianali. L’inquinamento oltre ad essere un grave rischio per la salute è anche una delle principali cause ambientali di malattie come il cancro. Per questo alcune delle sfide del prossimo futuro sarà nel ridimensionamento dei nostri usi e costumi oppure in una nuova spinta tecnologica che ci consenta di coesistere in un sistema sostenibile. Abbiamo posto attenzione al problema dell’inquinamento urbano e abbiamo cercato risposte tra le attuali nuove tecnologie – ci siamo ispirati alla natura, consapevoli delle caratteristiche dei paesaggi urbani e abbiamo pensato a dei nuovi sistemi artificiali per abbattere gli inquinanti aerei. Abbiamo pensato quindi ad un albero sintetico in ceramica, che senza apporti energetici diminuisce e abbatte gli inquinanti presenti nell’aria grazie al Biossido di Titanio (TiO2) e al fenomeno di fotocatalisi. Ognuno di questi moderni totem urbani è capace di abbattere ogni giorno gli agenti inquinanti di 4 alberi. Il Biossido di Titanio (TiO2) fissato ad alta temperatura durante la fabbricazione in particelle micrometriche agisce da catalizzatore in presenza di luce, accelera la degradazione delle sostanze nell’aria decomponendole in forme non più dannose per la salute. E’ in grado di degradare composti organici ed inorganici ( es VOC, CO, NOx, SOx), batteri ( es Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Staphylococcus auerus) ed odori.

L’originalité de ce projet nîmois, destiné aux parcs relais TCSP (transport en commun en site propre) des sites de Parnasse et de l’accès à l’autoroute A54, réside dans sa réalisation en deux parties imbriquées, et pourtant conçues par deux équipes différentes. Sous une ombrière, dessinée par l’agence Gautier+ Conquet en charge de l’aménagement urbain, y.architectes a imaginé de petits bâtiments de plain-pied et de hauteurs différentes, sur une surface totale de 290 mètres carrés construits. Le défi était donc de trouver un système constructif qui puisse se glisser sous la large structure préalablement construite, et d’adapter l’enveloppe des façades aux différents cas de figures du programme. À Parnasse, en cours de réalisation, le premier bâtiment, à l’ouest, abrite des locaux techniques et un hall d’accueil destiné aux usagers ; le second contient une salle de repos et ses sanitaires réservés au personnel, ainsi que des toilettes publiques accessibles depuis l’extérieur ; le dernier, à l’ouest, est un parking à vélos sécurisé. Plus d’excuses pour ne pas utiliser les transports en commun ! Sous la résille unificatrice en acier galvanisé gris clair, se trouvent les trois volumes tramés par une structure métallique. Cette ossature régulière permet de disposer des panneaux de façade interchangeables en fonction des usages qu’ils camouflent. Ils se composent d’une part, de parois pleines en tasseaux de bois lasurés qui dissimulent portes et zones techniques ; et d’autre part, de tôle perforée blanche tel un moucharabieh contemporain, assurant transparence, protection contre le soleil, les intrusions et le vandalisme.

Cette réalisation, achevée durant l’été 2011, est celle de deux architectes fraîchement diplômés qui se sont saisis d’une étude de faisabilité dont aucun confrère n’a voulu. Malgré l’exiguïté de la parcelle, ils ont convaincu le bailleur social ICF d’y réaliser un immeuble de sept logements. L’organisme a ensuite lancé une procédure de préemption par le biais de la Ville de Lyon. Un courage et une persévérance à l’origine de cette première construction neuve, qui a mis quatre ans à aboutir. L’étroitesse du terrain de 683 mètres carrés, en L, et les contraintes de prospect, obligent à implanter l’immeuble « au chausse-pied » en partie sud. La forme résultante est un parallélépipède rectangle, correspondant au retrait de quatre mètres des limites de propriété et à l’alignement sur le bâti existant. Une volumétrie stricte que les deux homonymes travailleront à la manière du sculpteur qui évide un bloc de matière. Dans le gabarit imposé, où se trouvent les sept habitations orientées est‑ouest, les architectes taillent un noyau doré. Placé en retrait de la façade, il traverse de part en part le compact volume blanc : du rez-de-chaussée, où se situent six box de stationnement et les parties communes en une résille métallique (coursives, local vélos et poubelles), à l’attique où se trouve le niveau supérieur de deux duplex. Ce joyau flamboyant procure élégance et légèretéà l’ensemble qui semble léviter. De quoi tordre le cou à tous les préjugés sur le logement social !

Lors de la création de la ZAC de Berliet, la ville de Saint-Priest s’est vue dans l’obligation de déplacer des terrains de pétanque et le bâtiment qui s’y trouvaient. En échange, l’association qui les gère a obtenu la réalisation de locaux flambant neufs et de quatre zones de jeu. Sportifs et passionnés pourront de nouveau mesurer leur adresse dès avril 2012. La volumétrie du nouveau club-house de 125 mètres carrés, se base sur le gabarit de la construction voisine, réinterprété et déconstruit en triangles, en plan et en toiture, en référence à la morphologie de la parcelle où il s’installe. Les nouveaux équipements n’occupant qu’un tiers de cette superficie, le reste est planté d’espèces locales et de graminées au faible coût d’entretien. Le bâtiment se compose de deux bandes parallèles désaxées, contenant d’un côté une pièce de vie et le bureau, de l’autre une zone technique avec cuisine et sanitaires. Ce « glissement » permet de ménager une terrasse abritée au coin nord-est, et un auvent d’entrée au sud‑ouest. Le tout étant recouvert d’une peau, métallique jusqu’au bout des ongles ! Du bardage en bac acier galvanisé, aux portes, en passant par les rideaux et plaques en acier microperforé qui habillent fenêtres et auvents. L’ensemble crée un objet architectural aux accents sculpturaux.

Reusing rainwater is nowadays quite important, it allows independencefrom the main supply and it can be used for irrigation or to generatesmall oasis, in dryer climates.

The project sows that is possible to collect rainwater in a creative way.The installation features a series of small clay lined ponds.Rainwater is collected by a series of vertical plastic tubes with a funnelon top; the other end of the tubes is capped and has a hole above theclay level to let the water leek into the ponds.

Ideally, all ponds areconnected, to allow water storage in a specific area.All the tubes are grouped in seven “bubbles”, each of this areas representswet habitats.

The bubbles, with different heights, are arranged to generate diversespacial situations, to be enjoyed by visitors.

All the surface around the ponds is treated as more arid, with scarceplanting and paved with stabilized soil.Phosphorescent tape will also be placed on the tubes, so that at nightthey will glow in the dark.

“Power to your next step”, claim della nuova campagna Canon, è stato il concetto che ci ha guidati nello sviluppo del progetto. Il brief dato da Canon richiede la realizzazione di uno Shop in Shop di circa 25 mq, posizionato all’interno di punti vendita di elettronica di consumo. Uno spazio affascinante ed emozionante che permetta di avvicinare il brand Canon al consumatore, accompagnandolo nel percorso di scelta. Un catalizzatore dell’attenzione che attrarrà target diversi, dai giovani interessati alla tecnologia a semplici passanti incuriositi dall’opportunità di sperimentare i prodotti Canon. L’obiettivo del progetto è quello di far vivere all’utente una nuova “shopping experience”, che gli consenta di avvicinarsi in maniera empatica all’oggetto tecnologico. Il concept ha preso forma dall’individuazione di una similitudine tra capo di abbigliamento e prodotto Canon. La macchina fotografica, la videocamera e la stampante, come un capo di abbigliamento, potranno essere toccate, provate e abbinate all’interno dello shop in shop. Periodicamente verranno presentati degli “outfit” tecnologici, che proporranno degli abbinamenti, ad esempio, macchina fotografica, obiettivi e stampanti. Gli “outfit” hanno lo scopo di aiutare il cliente a scegliere la famiglia di prodotti più adatta alle proprie necessità e alimentare il cross-selling. Lo spazio viene progettato attraverso una reinterpretazione di stereotipi espositivi della moda. Il supporto sul quale esporre le comunicazioni di prodotto e delle campagne Canon è la rella, il tipico stendino su cui vengono appesi i capi di abbigliamento. Lo spazio a base quadrata (5×5 m) è organizzato in tre macro aree, che identificano altrettanti momenti dell’experience d’acquisto. La zona dello show window è la reinterpretazione della vetrina, intesa però come spazio permeabile, che invita l’utente all’interazione con quanto esposto. Tutti i prodotti in vetrina sono accesi e collegati tramite wi-fi a una stampante e possono essere provati dai clienti. La vetrina si compone di una serie di parallelepipedi a base quadrata, alcuni pieni con finitura lucida e altri “wireframe” con struttura a vista, di altezze differenti. La scelta di adottare dimensioni e altezze diverse è dettata dalla volontà di creare un’esposizione dinamica dei prodotti e di facilitare l’accesso e la prova degli stessi. Gli elementi di comunicazione, le specifiche dei prodotti esposti e i QRcode sono appesi alla rella, posizionata al di sopra dei prodotti. I volumi espositivi poggiano su di un elemento contenitore, alto 40 cm, con funzione di stoccaggio del materiale di scorta. In questa zona sono presenti anche tre iPad che aiutano l’utente nella scelta del prodotto Canon in funzione delle sue esigenze e del futuro utilizzo. La “fitting area”è una rilettura del concetto di camerino: questa zona è allestita con gli stessi elementi caratterizzanti la vetrina, organizzati in modo da creare una zona di sosta per la prova dell’”outfit” Canon (es. macchina compatta, Mac per l’editing e piccola stampante Selphy). Qui il cliente può provare il sistema di prodotti Canon. Le due fitting area sono estremamente flessibili e, in occasione dei Canon day, possono essere modificate, utilizzando i parallelepipedi come appoggi e sedute per i partecipanti. In quest’area, inoltre, è posizionato il play table per le ottiche, ovvero una postazione che ospita una macchina reflex su cui potranno essere provati i differenti obiettivi esposti. L’area centrale dello shop è occupata da un lungo tavolo che ospita differenti funzioni: zona di appoggio per le vendite assistite, spazio per ospitare il relatore durante i Canon day ed esposizione di prodotti. Al centro del tavolo sono posizionati due schermi che trasmettono video e campagne pubblicitarie e che, in occasione dei Canon day, saranno di supporto ai relatori durante gli speech. I monitor sono appesi all’interno di una cornice metallica (rella) che permette di orientarli in base alle necessità. Sul piano d’appoggio centrale verrà posizionata anche la stampante, racchiusa in una teca in plexiglass, che permetterà la stampa delle foto inviate in wi-fi dalle macchine esposte nello show window.

From this double geographical condition, MAPA explores the limits of non-conventional production formats. The studio has originally established itself from professional and academic grounds: two complementary fields that create and shape its work.

MINIMOD proposes an innovative, intelligent and sustainable alternative of dwelling.
Starting from a minimal module, MINIMOD invests in customization, design and sustainability. The production is carried out in a prefabricated manner and enjoys the steel frame system technology, which lets the client adapt the space to his needs, choosing among different finishes, as well as automation options. Depending on the composition of the modules, MINIMOD can vary the uses ranging from a compact refuge for weekends, a small showroom for events, up to hotels and inns, combining a larger number of modules. The modules are 100% prefabricated and elevated to a determined place by truck or disassembled into smaller pieces and taken to the ground for final assembly.

The expansion and addition of new modules can be performed either at initial installation or in the middle of the process, according to the needs and budgets of the client. MINIMOD is more than a product of design, is more than a house. It’s practicality combined with comfort, it’s economy allied to nature, it’s a unique experience of housing and contemporary living.

Il Teatro Sociale di Asola, inaugurato nell’ottobre 1891, sorge in luogo dell’antica chiesa dell’Erasmo nel centro storico della città. A partire dagli inizi degli anni sessanta una successione di radicali interventi edilizi ha trasformato profondamente la permanenza architettonica.

Il restauro è finalizzato al recupero della facciata dagli stilemi neoclassici e della quattrocentesca abside di S.Bernardino. La progettazione si allontana da forme tipologiche statiche e crea un’architettura polifunzionale, capace di esprimere una bellezza caratterizzata da simmetria, armonia e rapporti proporzionali classici, fondati su un’idea attuale di ritmo, leggerezza e luce.

Una vetrata dalla valenza urbana contiene Il nuovo caffè letterario, ideale filtro fra spazio teatrale e città. L’abside tardo-gotica è inquadrata in un cono ottico dalla nuova inserzione architettonica in vetro che esalta l’accostamento con l’edificio storico.

Un ristorante al secondo piano e il recupero dell’abside, liberata dall’attuale frazionamento interno, rafforzano l’idea di contenitore polifunzionale come nuovo centro della cultura urbana e punto focale della comunità.

L’immagine architettonica è caratterizzata da due monumentali quinte rivestite in pietra che incorniciano e mettono in risalto la facciata storica.

Dalla copertura emerge la nuova torre scenica rivestita in acciaio Cor-ten; land-mark che domina il tessuto urbano circostante e fondamentale struttura scenotecnica che rende possibile lo svolgimento di un’ampia tipologia di spettacoli e manifestazioni.

CONCEPT Study for a reproducible form, AGGREGABLE, mouldable according to the needs. The particular shape of our stalls originates from the study of fractals, of pure geometric shapes and experimentation of Origami technique.

1 – FLEXIBLE STALLS& SERVICES POSITIONING Flexibility in positioning of both the stalls and the services. The deliberate lack of a definite plan allows the installation of the various elements of the project in different urban contexts, whether it is squares used for events/exhibitions or new and dedicated spaces. The main feature of POLYHEDRON is the molecular aggregation of its stalls and services allowing endless design solutions.

2 – EASIER ASSEMBLY& PORTABILITY The structures of paperfolder stalls and services are modular and designed so as to come “bundled” into containers. Their modular design makes their assembly and disassembly fast and standard.

3 – SITES PERMABILITYMARKET is designed as an open space with no physical barriers, easy to walk through and accessible from each side, with a total visibility both from the inside and the outside of the stalls.

4 – SUSTAINABILITY AND MATERIALS Energy independence and sustainable and innovative construction techniques using: a) solar films thanks to faceted surface of the display modules (STALLS), very efficient in any orientation of the installation and any climatic zone; b) OFF-GRID which allows the accumulation and distribution of self-produced energy; c) environmentally friendly construction materials;

5 – NETWORKINGMARKET aims at facilitating the networking of craft enterprises among them, between them and clients / visitors or external stakeholders. MARKET, because of quality and performance of its elements Paperfold Stalls and services and business set, aims at providing a place becoming the local attractor and an opportunity for socialization, identification, and support to the development of local craft networks: an integrated system of craft spaces / malls, public spaces and services for the community.

6 – SCALABILITYMARKET can be declined in different scales of magnitude:Paperfolder Gadgets to distribute to customers / visitors as either gadget or game, Paperfolder Stand usable and transportable as a “BACKPACKING TENT” such as use as a mini stand for markets, Paperfolder Stalls, Pavillon Paperfolder.

construction materials: as the outer skin translucent textile made of fiber glass, which protects the stall from overheating in summer, mounted on tubular steel frames up to about 6 m. The use of such skin generates various degrees of transparency depending on how the light filters: or through the materiality of a solid body or through the structure in transparency The textile skin is a major design feature. The glass fibre fabric is attached to steel tubing frames, which are up to 6 m high, using specially developed adapter profiles made of aluminium.

Springs in the holding profiles offset changes in length of the construction due to temperature fluctuations, maintaining the tautness of the membrane. The translucent material provides protection from the sun and rain, is dirt-repellent and allows ideal rear ventilation. It also meets exacting aesthetic requirements: suspended in front of the façade in two layers, sun protection blinds are used to achieve varying degrees of transparency, giving the building – depending on the light conditions – an appearance ranging from solid structure to just about to dissolve .

The main challenge was to transform the existing monofunctional military site into an integrated element of the city of Heidelberg with its own identity. Adaptability for us means to allow for the site to be able to grow and perform in different phases; managed through a multi-dimensional and multi-functional approach.

The concept of ‘Startband’ is defined as a (sub-)urban con-quest strategy with the aim to integrate the barracks site seamlessly into the fabric of urban complexities and to enable the development of an independent identity of the new quarter. Process and urban intervention are equal parts of the concept. The development of the site is divided into three stages of transformation: The first phase includes the exploration and appropriation of the urban space. At first, ephemeral sites would be set up to try out ideas in actual practice. The site of the barrack would be an open space for exploration, experimentation and adventure. The second phase includes the implementation of the ‘Startband’, the most important urban intervention. With the ‘Startband’ a ‘community center’ would be created. Its characteristics would provide differentiated and multi-functional open spaces, a flexible mix of typologies within each building block, coming with a variety of options to use and appropriate space. This would introduce a new and needed complexity into the neighborhood. Around the former parade ground, a new science campus would be developed which complements the mix of uses in the very center of the site. Within the third phase of the transformation the development would continue in the surrounding areas of the ‘Startband’. The Mark Twain settlement would include newly established neighborhood courtyards. This creates new qualities for the public space within the courtyards and increases the possibilities of usages by the tenants.

La creazione di una facciata multimediale volta a informare sportivi e studenti delle varie attività svolte e la ristrutturazione del palaroller con la realizzazione di una pensilina con ordine gigante a schermatura dei preesistenti spogliatoi adeguatamente ristrutturati sono gli interventi qualificanti del progetto. Un muro-quinta a doghe orizzontali di larice connette il palaroller con le altre attività del centro sportivo

Il Centro Ricerche mediche costituisce un prototipo commissionato da una ditta farmaceutica. La scelta di inscrivere l’intera composizione planivolumetrica all’interno di una forma ellittica, se da un lato ne vuole indagare le potenzialità espressive e simboliche in rapporto al tema istituzionale, dall’altro genera un profilo sfuggente che consente un possibile inserimento in molteplici contesti.

Over time, the industrial Dubied site became clogged with haphazard development as the diachronic needs industry increased. Buildings are random with no relationship to each other. Our design vision of the future focuses on the revitalization of the Dubied historic industrial site into a center of regional economic and cultural development. The major focus was to find a system that could meet the needs of each owner and at the same time provide continuity as a whole. If we were to name this approach, we could call it, “all in one”. 

Reorganization of the River Waterside

The process of the project tries to put together multiple themes into a global approach:

Conservation and enhancement of existing architectural heritage. With careful consideration to the protection, enhancement, and repurposing of existing historic buildings, our proposal is a solution that can integrate existing and proposed uses and have the sustainable flexible expandability potential for future needs.  The architectural heritage stands out against the standardization of the new built entities, putting the visual emphasis on the particularities of each preserved building. Dubied’s repurposed historic factories breathe new life into a cohesive ergonomic town and surrounding area.
Classification of public spaces and clarification of the relationships between the site and the town, its activity sectors The river – Areuse – creates a spine in the core framework of the town of Couvet and ensures a global vision of the landscape. On the site, an outdoor public space, footpath along the river narrows or widens according to constraints to create exceptional places.
Maximize of future useful spaces and templates. In order to allow cohabitation within the current and the future activities, the project suggests a scalable building system in the form of a continuous layer. This overlay covers the site with boundaries that are limited to a maximum height of 12 meters. The roof lowers down to create small buildings orientated North and South, that provides sufficient natural light to every level.
Adaptability and programmatic mix. Each owner has specific needs both physical and temporal. Morphology provides scalability and adaptability to the specific needs and space requirements to the individual needs of owners.  In terms of functionality, this template promotes accessibility and flexibility to allow a diversity of activities, and accommodate office building R +2, R +1 workshops, and ground level industry.
Scalable construction phases. To allow coexistence between current and future activities, the network layer is a scalable system. The positioning of the planned buildings is designed to fit with the existing land plots. In this way, each owner can choose to go forward in the process of transformation of his own plot or stand by without major consequences for Dubied-site. The overlay is a projected final vision, but a multitude of intermediate steps are possible and sustainable.

La rinascita della città inizia imprescindibilmente da una restituzione collettiva attraverso un recupero dei principali spazi ed edifici pubblici. In quest’ottica si prevede un potenziamento qualitativo urbano: nuovi spazi ad uso della comunità sono creati come un nuovo parco urbano, un sagrato maggiormente definito, una piazza civica ed una area mercatale/eventi continua addossata al porticato della cortina edilizia. Ogni scelta progettuale rispetta e reinterpreta la tradizione: l’antica localizzazione lungo il corso d’acqua (Parmigiana-Moglia) viene concettualmente riproposta con uno specchio d‘acqua a raso, la linearità della cortina viene potenziata attraverso la struttura che riattiva l’antica funzione mercatale, la Chiesa viene recuperata attraverso materiali “locali” e riconoscibili.

IL MERCAT0 E GLI SPAZI PUBBLICI Il mercato, cuore del nostro sistema socio-economico, è in grado di riattivare alcune dinamiche urbane ad oggi sopite. La struttura di copertura si presta altresì ad eventi cittadini come spazio per grandi cene cittadine, celebrazioni estemporanee, sfilate urbane… LO STUDIO DEI PROSPETTI Anche i prospetti in affaccio sui principali spazi pubblici cittadini sono studiati: il Piano del Colore urbano rielabora le tonalità della tradizione padana accostando una serie di colorazioni capaci di riattivare nella comunità un senso di appartenenza al luogo ed alla memoria storica del territorio.

IL PORTICATO URBANO Il suo recupero rappresenta una tappa fondamentale per una consapevole restituzione urbana. L’intervento proposto nasce con una duplice concezione: risolve da un lato la problematicità statica del portico, dall’altro vuole offrire un prolungamento ideale di quest’ultimo, integrandone attività, flussi, ricettività e spazi socializzanti. All’esterno la struttura in acciaio offre un controventamento all’intero impalcato andandosi a fissare a livello dei solai. Sulla nuova copertura si prevede l’installazione di un tessuto bianco filtrante che protegge la parte aggettante verso le piazze urbane a ricordo degli antichi tendaggi mercatali.

Progetto di una villa unifamiliare a Rossano, Cosenza, su due livelli. Il primo livello accoglie la zona giorno ed ha un a superficie di circa 110 mq, mentre nel secondo livello, collegati con una scala autoportante in legno e acciaio cortèn si ha la zona notte, di circa 60 mq, con due stanze da letto, un bagno ed una stanza da letto padronale con terrazzo vista mare.
