The module housing is studied and proposed dimensions of approximately 3,00 m x 6,00 m for 4 beds (see tav. 1), or 4,50 m x 6,00 m for six beds (see tav. 2):
with different solutions (see tav. 1):

- Module 3,00 m x 6,00 m three level: solution suitable for 4/5 persons – This basic module allows you to have an area about + 0.80 cm from the share of land with a clearance of about 0.40 m below, here we have the entrance with kitchenette -dining room of approximately 12,40 square meters, a dressing room with sink of about 1.70 square meters and a toilet of about 1.38 square meters, with a width of about 0.80 m internal staircase going up to the 1st floor (height + 3, 42 m) where we have a room of about 8.40 square meters, a corridor of approximately 4.30 square meters, always with a scale width of about 0.80 m climb to the sub-floor roof (height of + 5.92 m) of about 9 square meters with a height of 1.3 to 2.6 ml used as a sleeping area for two people. This solution is a valid solution at low cost for a family of 4/5 people.

- Module 4,50 m x 6,00 m three level: solution suitable for 6 persons – This basic module allows you to have an area about + 0.80 cm from the share of land with a clearance of about 0.40 m below, here we have the entrance with kitchen -dining room of approximately 17,50 mq, a dressing room with sink of about 1.70 mq and a toilet of about 1.38 mq, with a width of about 0.80 m internal staircase going up to the 1st floor (height + 3, 42 m) where we have a bedroom of about 16,12 square meters, a corridor of approximately 7,.70 mq, always with a scale climb to the sub-floor roof (height of + 5.92 m) of about 16,00 square meters with a height of 1.3 to 7,70 mq used as a sleeping area for three people. This solution is a valid solution at low cost for a family of 6 people.

- From this solution again using the single module 3.00×6.00 we may have of the property units for two people with even lower costs because it eliminates a plan and we have the solution A, A, B, B etc. etc.; the latter with the floor level input place to share + 2.70 from the ground. The solution * allows you to have the floor at ground level, covered and can be used to perform some tasks.

Coupling two modules 3,00×6,00 we get a home with greater consistency, more suitable for a family, this feasible in most configurations, a raised ground clearance of about 0.80 m on three levels, a raised by 0.80 m on two levels and a raised about 2.70 ml m for flood hazard areas (see Table 2). In particular, using an external staircase we access through a terrace with a living area (kitchen-dining room) of approximately 15.72 square meters, a dressing room with sink around 1.80 square meters, a toilet of about 2.26 square meters, one room approximately 12.35 square meters for two beds, then using a staircase going up in the attic divided into two rooms for 4 beds in total.

The flexibility and modularity allowing the expansion of housing units by combining together the individual modules to obtain such solutions we have n ° 3 modules or 3.00×6.00 No. 4 3.00×6.00 m modules still No. 6 modules 3.00×6.00 m etc.. etc.. (90 – 120 sqm) always in the three proposed structural configurations (see Drawing 3).

In all cases the realization of the mezzanine floor to share +2.70 ml from the soil allows to have a further surface covered at ground level to be used for the daily needs of the house and increases its potential.

To meet the needs of cost we hypothesized two modes executive in terms of materials and insulations used, these types of finishes are clearly applicable to the three configurations:

- Economical solution - supporting structure frame stiffened by Tapered, made entirely of bamboo, floors and roof decking made always with elements of bamboo and wooden boards, with perimeter walls and interior partitions of bamboo, thermal and acoustic insulation with bales straw pressed insulation from rain and humidity with woven palm leaves.
- Another Solution - structure frame stiffened by tapered, made entirely of bamboo, floors and roof decking made always with elements of bamboo and wooden boards, with perimeter walls in bamboo plastered with clay inside and outside with lime mortar, interior walls of bamboo, thermal and acoustic insulation with straw bales pressed insulation from rain and humidity with woven palm leaves and / or PVC sheet.
The structural mass of the outer walls can be increased by the use of brick clay and straw, subsequently plastered after the application of network jute.
The connections between culms: are designed with pins and / or threaded rods of steel rods inserted in the appropriate section of bamboo and reinforced with cement mortar, fastened with bolts and steel washers, or alternatively can be made in a traditional way with pins inserted inside the bamboo culms and ligatures stiffening.
Indication of materials:
Bamboo culms – would be preferable to the species of Guadua angustifolia, which can have a diameter up to 22 – 24 cm and reaches its maximum height in 3-4 months. The production of this species is very high, with 7000-10000 stems per hectare, this feature can be exploited to promote the cultivation of bamboo guadua areas overlooking the intervention area crementandone the economy. Alternatively we can use the species Dendrocalamus giganteus.
Straw
Use in bales of various sizes compacted as (thermal and acoustic insulation of external walls, floors and roof decking) from
Palm leaves
Using (roofs and insulation of the floors from moisture). The palm leaves sewn to prepare layers of roofing. The whole leaves are folded on a long bamboo sticks and sewn with a metal strip folded in which is inserted a strip of palm leaf in mo ‘needle and thread. The flaps when ready are put in the sun to dry
The roof of palm leaves from the heat island and is water, the water runs off, it can filter a few drops only if the flaps are not well superimposed. A roof of palm can last two to three years, then it must be replaced
Clay
Use: interior plaster, clay and straw bricks, mortar floors
Requirements of the home:
- Low cost of natural materials and eco-friendly approvvigionabili site
- Thermal and acoustic insulation guaranteed by the use of the straw which has a thermal transmittance (K) of about 0.13 W / mK
- Insulation hydrometric and protection from the rain carried out from the leaves of palm
- Eco-compatibility, design sensitive to environmental issues and sustainable;
- Modularity and adaptability to user needs
- Ability to generate new business production for the materials used
Availability of the material
A big advantage is the fact that the material can also be locally produced. Building and / or proximity to fields of bamboo, wheat, rye or barley, eliminates transportation costs and lowering those of production.
Straw is also an excellent insulating material especially when plastered with clay as we said inside and lime plaster outside
large earthen bricks, are obtained from lean clays (with more sand), to which is added often chopped straw.
The green bricks with a high content of light substances (sand, straw) are suitable to realize the walls of tamponade.
To raise the mud-brick wall is used as a binder clay mortar or lime mortar and the wall in turn, must be protected from moisture upward through a horizontal barrier and vertically from the rain, through a plaster lime.
Roof made of palm leaves
isolated from warm and waterproof, the water runs off, it can filter a few drops only if the flaps are not well superimposed. A roof of palm can last two to three years, and then must be replaced. The whole leaves are folded on a long bamboo sticks and sewn with a metal strip folded in which is inserted a strip of palm leaf in mo ‘needle and thread. The flaps when ready are put in the sun to dry
Network of jute
It is a natural network for strengthening the plaster. Is used as a mesh in the plaster, prevents the formation of cracks caused by structural movements. Essential for plastering of walls that have different types of media or above panels.
Bamboo straws or “Arella” plaster
essential in the smooth surfaces, in boarding or training against the wall or ceiling. It ‘a good support for the lime-based plaster or clay. The straws, of Italian origin, are bound to a steel wire.
Links
Threaded rod with nut and bolt connections or alternatively connections made with grafts of stems, smaller section in holes, with stiffening of the node by ligation.
The nodes are stiffened (in the case of use of threaded bars) with injections of mortar.
The main advantages of bamboo
- Environmental sustainability: Bamboo is a local resource widely available, renewable in 3-4 years, with a growth of up to 10 times faster
of all tropical timber and not. In addition produces more oxygen than any other type of wood.
- Economic sustainability: the bamboo has a rapid growth that allows a local production fairly easy to do, allowing you to
not having to import the material. Investment in a plantation of bamboo
allow a potential payback in 2-3 years.
- Ability structural steel is considered to be natural, because of its high mechanical characteristics (about 300 kg / cm ²
compression and 500 kg / cm ² strength)
- Low power consumption: Compared with other building materials bamboo is much more economical. In fact the amount of
energy necessary for the production of bamboo for construction is equal to 12.5% of the concrete, steel and 2% to 37% of the timber. (Study by the University
Eindhoven)
- Fire: The bamboo has a great attitude towards the fire: the outer shell has a high concentration of acid silicate,
which is a retarding combustion. For which the Bamboo develops the flames only at high temperatures.
- Versatility structural: The bamboo, being a material with high resistance to both normal force and bending, can be used in multiple
ways. As simple columns and beams for the floors etc..
Disadvantages:
Durability, bamboo culms should be properly treated and protected at last to ensure an adequate duration. The connection with land is protected by a concrete plinth in which is introduced into the backbone of bamboo.
It is considered that given the cost, can be periodically scheduled replacement of structural parts and / or the demolition and reconstruction of the entire housing unit.
We do not have a thorough knowledge of the prices of materials and hand-d’opera in Cambodia, then attach a draft bill of quantities without its costs, however, that the module version 3.00 m x 6.00 m and 4,50 m x 600 m should have a lower total cost to $ 2,000.
