This garden was designed to celebrate that Lille had been chosen as the European Culture Capital in 2004, through an international competition. It is the first of a series of public commissions for the same client, Lille Metropolitan Area. It is located in the Parc de la Deule, and as it is dedicated to immigration communities living in the metropolitan area, some of their representatives participated in the design process. Our duty was to answer their needs and demands, translating them in an interesting contemporary vocabulary. The garden has been filmed, broadcasted and published several times and attracts many visitors to the Park de la Deule, which has itself won the French National Prize for Landscape in 2009.
