la bocca del serpente

The most important aspect of the site, that the project undoubtedly has preserved the landscape. In particular he gave an answer to a question arose from the outset: the new architecture to hide, disguise the nature of the site, or alternatively become involved with the rest of the buildings around the existing museum. The project seems to be a synthesis of this duality. The new building stands on the edge of the area, along the river and follows its loops and curvy. It lies on small banks following the contour lines. It meets the needs of the program through the insolvency to rise just above the country and affecting the land by creating spaces hypogeous. The building is a sinuous body in its progress in plan and maintain this character in it, developing pathways and open spaces in the river underpinning the view from the park. Suddenly opens a passage: a sort of terrace overlooking the lake and the adjacent island. The large terrace of the villa today is a museum. The building is like an organism carrying out its functions through its parts: the head, the body and tail. In the head, are concentrated the functions of granting hospitality: the Foyer, service areas, conference room, permanent collection and on the first floor lies the restaurant. An important place is reserved for the museum pedagogy facilities, located at the entrance of the underground level. The route starts from the foyer to the secondary underground level is actually a sort of filter to the exhibition hall, 2,40m width and 42m long will host the introductory section of the exhibitions and the museum at the same time. The connection to the existing museum, is not intended as a physical component but, the park itself with the green and art works to establish an open space inside the museum system. The villa takes on the role of catalyst and it focuses on the role of host. It is the place of storytelling in the park and the history of the family who built it.
