AWP Agency territorial reconfiguration (Marc Armengaud, Matthias Armengaud, Alessandra Cianchetta) has won the opportunity to manage the public spaces of the districts of Nanterre and Puteaux as well as the follies situated close to the new stadium Arena 92. The site is located at the Jardins de l’Arche, an exciting connection point between La Défense and Seine-Arche. AWP is also directing a plan guide for the public spaces of the Business District of Defense.

Development of the connection between La Défense, Seine Arche and the Jardins de l’Arche located at the intersection of several neighborhoods: La Defense to the east, and the Groues Faubourg de l’Arche to the north, towards the south Andre Malraux Park, and finally terraces that extend the historical axis up the Seine which face west. The site which has a surface area of eight hectares, benefits from the construction of Arena 92, a multipurpose stage, allowing it to become the centre of several neighborhoods, with close proximity to a mixture of hotels, residences, leisure and urban services.
THE PROJECT / Walking the Grand Arche
Our vision at this stage falls under the vision “Jardins de l’Arche” directed by the EPADESA. The project articulates two main ideas: – Simple and multifunctional spaces immersed in the existing gardens (the park is the most notable aspect of La Defense). These spaces enjoy lights traversing the two gardens and many access points (from the slab and frontage on the boulevard) as well as possibilities for future adaptations. – An entrance pavilion of the new urban sequence: a “folie” suspended in the air at the base of the Grand Arche with a unique panoramic view of the west side of the site. It is a new iconic place for La Défense and a rare opportunity to develop new services.
We propose the possibility of crossing programs or to develop options for spaces such as: bar/restaurant, cafe, nightclub, fitness center with swimming pool so as to bring more life to the largest business district in Europe.
