Nel contesto fortemente connotato dalla presenza di comunità chiuse come Plan d’Aou, l’intento di progetto è la mescolanza sociale, etnica e generazionale. Attraverso l’organizzazione degli spazi per la condivisione, la partecipazione e la varietà programmatica, si propone un luogo in grado di incentivare l’abitare collettivo. Il nome del progetto, che cita D.F. Wallace, vuole riflettere questa intenzione.

Il risultato è uno spazio costruito a misura d’uomo, dove attività diurne si mescolano ad attività notturne, quelle per i giovani a quelle per gli anziani, quelle temporanee a quelle permanenti, concorrendo a rafforzare il senso di sicurezza di chi abita nel quartiere. L’aspetto innovativo del programma è la varietà definita dal basso, attraverso una progettazione partecipata che, per fasi, porti alla definizione del progetto e alla sua costruzione, rendendo possibile un avvicinamento lento e graduale dei cittadini ai temi della riqualificazione di Plan d’Aou, si tratta di programmare il lento ricongiungimento emotivo e fisico ai luoghi.

In a context strongly characterized by gated communities, as Plan d’Aou is, the progject aims to foster social, ethnic and generational diversity. The project propose a place that can stimulate the collective living, achieved through the organization of spaces for sharing and participating, and a good program variety. Quoting D.F. Wallace, the name of the project reflects this purpose.

The result is a human-scale built space, where daytime activities are mixed with nightly activities, as well as for the young with the elderly ones, and those temporary to the permanent ones. A fruitful interplay of opposites which helps to strengthen the sense of security of those who live in the neighborhood. The innovative aspect of the program stands in the variety defined “from below”, through a participatory planning in phases, that leads to the definition of the project and its construction, allowing a slow and gradual approach of the citizens to the issues of the redevelopment of Plan d’Aou. It is it about planning the emotional and physical reunification to those places.
