It seemed necessary to create a symbolic building that made it easy to create the confidence and credibility necessary in a new cemetery in a society which was used to honor the departed in traditional cemeteries.

The main idea was to create a principal volume, with a strong presence but at the same time be extemporal in order to consolidate this new cemetery. It is not necessarily catholic. This space, a chapel, acts as a pre room for the cremation process, which is done in the back area.

This complex holds two constructions, one represented by the chapel which has a mystic aspect; and the other represented by geometry, which has an industrial aspect where the crematorium is. Both construccion are located in a landscape that has a park and a hill. The chapel was designed as a transition from the terrain to the divine.

The base is made of Stone and evolves into fringes of black reflective glass and finishing in a point, as well made of glass, which reflects the sun. This image gives us a sensation of a solid sliced, which holds heaven inside, and also changes from something rural, like stone, to something smooth, like glass.
