My first thought was turned towards the fantastic garden of Bomarzo set on a hill,close to the city of Viterbo in Italy.Commissioned to Architect Pirro Ligorio by Prince Vicino Orsini in the XVI century it is characterized by monumentality, and above all an enigmatic atmosphere because of strange scenes and sculptures set in the space without a logical meaning apparently. You know that probably there’s a “fil rouge” which links each element of the garden: may be biographical notes of the Prince family , may be the description of alchemical processes…. but it’ s still unknown today. For sure the garden of Bomarzo is a garden of delight and a garden of delirium!

MEANINGStarting from this point (alchemy, enigma) my idea for the Festival is to create a garden which presents frames of mind which change into something different; a growing from the past to the future; a very positive alchemical process, through images of delight and delirium. So that delight and delirium become instruments, space qualities, to show a inner life in progress.. It’s not necessary to understand the sense of each image; they are born from my imagination, my biography, my delirium. It’s more important that everybody walking in the garden, listen to and captures his feelings.

The garden is divided in two different parts: the first one is close to the entrance, and it is characterised by a mazy path whit black walls, height 1.60 mt. The path leads first to a ” cul de sac”, a room whit a big net, like a spider’s web, made by a core of ropes covered with black clothes; a female dress is caught in the net. Further on , a second room shows a big vase(1 meter diameter) knocked over ; it drops red paintings and jewels (false in this case…).A third room shows a dining room with a squared table, three chairs but only two places set. Chairs have a shawl, a masculine gilet and a baloon on their back.; the room is protected by a sunshade. The tortuous and angular path leads to the second part of the garden, a true vegetal garden with a central elliptic pond rounded by a wood path light blue painted; soft shapes and colors for a space full of aquatic plants and rich in natural vitality. Eight shafts in ascending order with ribbons and rattles at the top ,show another way, a new future. The atmosphere of the second part of the garden is totally different from the first one.
