The starting point for this project has been set by the idea of purposely recreating an outdoor ambience within the indoor gym. In fact, we wanted to develop a natural habitat, ad hoc for its users. Teresa Sapey always insists on space being a living element. As a consequence, it has a soul. More specifically, the new dimension of Reebok Sports Club, will have its own soul: natural, calm, eco-friendly, respectful, modest and somehow poetic. This essence will talk softly through the light, elegant, and materially timeless birch-wood. Materials, as us and the space we move in, is alive too. Tree-tops have been metaphorically represented on the ceiling, through circles of various diameters. These, remind us of the foliage of a forest, which as in nature covers, here it protects and redresses the space container from its naked and imposing volume. Leit motiv is the light wood, articulating and defining the beat of the content. As a consequence, the bodies and the machines appear as spaceships: they have just landed into the new Reebok Planet. Teresa Sapey team’s aim was to develop and establish a dialog between space and user, content and container: time and place merge, thus allowing to enhance the physical wellbeing of the users. When discovering relaxation points which remerge as submerged islands, humanising the effort and encouraging face-to-face communication: this allows to socialise in a moment in which human relation-ships are always more defined by ‘touch’ and less by words.
